Ever since moving to Mac OS X, we have missed the possibility of taking screen grabs of long webpages that do not fit in one window. Paul Hammond has recently released an upgrade for Webkit2png, a command line tool to take screen grabs from webpages. Webkit2png relies on WebKit, the Safari rendering engine, and in one step takes a screenshot from a webpage, produces a thumbnail of the same and adds a clipped version. As of version 0.3, it can take a space delineated list of URL and produce a set of screengrabs. Thanks Paul :-). This sure offers some interesting possibilities.
Webkit2png is a Python script for OS X 10.2 or newer, and is free. Paul also mentions a GUI version: Paparazi!, created by Johan Sørensen.
Due to a hard disk crash, this script had disappeared. A few readers even contacted me to obtain a copy. Fortunately, Paul Hammond had a back–up, and Webkit2png is available again for download.
