Go little fox, go

Congratulations are certainly more than justified. In a little more than 4 days, the preview release of Firefox 1.0 reached the magic number of 1.000.000 downloads. The promotion and community site Spreadfirefox has a little widget to track down those numbers. This is great indeed, and hopefully will make some major webdevelopment companies rethink their policies of IE only development. The stream of very positive articles in major publications (zdnet, news.com, NYtimes, frontpage of news.google.com for 24hours, Businessweek, and many many more will certainly help. Hopefully a major monopolist on the market will take notice.

Firefox is currently the best hope we have to promote and develop a nicer, safer, open browser ecosystem, and finally get rid of all those closed minded thingies called websites that catter to one browser only. A diversified ecosystem will please everybody developers, programmers, and more importantly the end users.

Get Firefox!
