Uncork the wine, serve the cheese, lit the candles, IT has appeared on the servers. Tasty, shiny, fresh; a small red animal ready to take a milestone step forward, hunting for the web. Congratulations to all involved, and a big thank you note ! (and now, grab some beer, and go to bed -:)
Firefox 1.0 is out, sporting a shiny new default homepage; a killer rendering engine, and much more. But don’t listen to all those who try to convince you to change your webbrowser, don’t let them fool you! (also available in English). You would probably certainly miss the latest pleasures of IE.
Sadly, the long awaited OS X Aquafication has been postponed for now. Something to look for in an upcoming release. Meanwhile, if you use OS X with a G5 powered Mac, there is an optimized build that includes Kevin Gerich form widgets. Powerbook users are not left in the cold, with those optimized builds (direct download link). They are very fast. And if you’re not happy with the default theme on OS X, have a look at this selection of skins; we enjoy a slightly edited version of the ‘GrApple (Graphite)’ theme.
(Firefox is available in 14 languages, and runs on multiple platforms).
