At 10.53 AM local time, an magnitude 7 earthquake strikes 50km from home. According to the reports on the NHK public broadcaster, our area took a shake of 5+ on the Japanese scale. The old house shook for about 1 minute 30 seconds, which feels awfully long. No damage to report, except for the books fallen out of a bookshelve. The imediate surroundings appear allright as well. The city center didn’t fare that well, the TV networks are reporting damage buildings, leaking gass and lots of shattered glass.
In the past two hours, we’ve felt a string of aftershocks. Nothing heavy any more, at the moment. If needed updates will follow in the section.
